Six militants killed, one arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar: Six militants were killed, another arrested and two hideouts smashed by security forces in
separate operations in Jammu and Kashmir since August 7 night, a police spokesman said.
An unidentified militant was killed and another arrested near the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of
Kupwara district on August 7 night, the spokesman said.
He said two militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces during search operations at
village Brar in Bandipora area of Baramulla district on August 8 afternoon.
The encounter broke out when a security search party moved to the village on August 8 morning
following specific information about presence of militants. Further details of the encounter are awaited,
the spokesman added.
In another encounter, he said troops of Rashtriya Rifles killed a militant during house-to-house searches
at Gundipora in Beerwah area of Badgam district in Central Kashmir on August 8 morning.
Two more militants fell to the bullets of security forces at Nachilana in Doda district, the spokesman said
and identified one of the deceased as Mohammad Shafrat Hussain alias Faheen of Relyar-Khadi village
of Doda.
The spokesman said Army troops smashed two militant hideouts, one each at Nowgam in Baramulla
district and Zangli in Kupwara district on August 8. Six UBGL (under barrel grenade launcher) shells, 10
detonators, a hand grenade, a wireless set and some ammunition were recovered from the two hideouts.
