SC allows Laloo Prasad Yadav to visit Pakistan
Friday, August 8 2003 11:05 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Supreme Court on August 8 permitted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav to visit Pakistan.

A Bench, comprising Justice S N Variava, Justice P V Reddi and Justice Ashok Bhan, asked Yadav to return back to India by August 17 and deposit his passport with CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in Patna by August 18.

The Supreme Court on August 7 ordered the CBI at Patna to give Yadav his passport for renewal but sought an undertaking from him for smooth conduct of trial of fodder scam cases during his visit to Pakistan.

The passport had been deposited with the CBI as a condition of the bail granted by the Supreme Court to Yadav in two fodder scam cases.
