Patna: The noose around the controversial RJD MP Md Shahabuddin was tightened on August 8 as a
local court directed attachment of his property while the Bihar director general of police (DGP) ordered
his arrest in a third case of kidnapping and suspected murder.
Siwan Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sushil Kumar Sinha accepted the police prayer and allowed
attachment of Shahabuddin's property for evading arrest.
The CJM earlier on August 1 had turned down the plea of Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Shivnath
Chaudhary for attachment of the MP's property but had allowed the police to publish a written
proclamation asking him (Shahabuddin) to appear before the court in a month's time from the date of
issuing of the proclamation under section 82 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Shahabuddin's counsel Ishtdeo Tiwari referred to the CJM's earlier order but the court did not entertain
his argument and allowed attachment of MP's property.
Meanwhile, state DGP D P Ojha on August 8 ordered arrest of the MP for his alleged involvement in the
kidnapping and suspected murder of Communist Party of India – Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML) worker Chote
Lal Gupta in Siwan district four years ago.
The DGP gave the order after reviewing the case of abduction of Gupta from near a railway crossing
under Hussainganj police station of Siwan district on February 5, 1999, IGP (headquarters) Neelmani
said.
