On Board Special Aircraft: Asserting that the government cannot be "sacrificed" to fulfil Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) demand for legislation for Ram temple construction in Ayodhya, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on August 9 said the Bill can be brought about only if there was consensus among National Democartic Alliance (NDA) partners and also the Opposition.

"VHP wants us to bring such a legislation which will definitely not get passed in Parliament. It wants us to contest elections on this plank. We are not ready to sacrifice the government", he told reporters accompanying him to Hyderabad.

"We are not ready to bring a legislation to create a division. But a real solution lies in an agreement between the two communities and I am optimistic that it is going to come", Advani said.

He said the government could bring a legislation "only in case of consensus not only within the NDA but also the Opposition".

Advani said as far as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was concerned it had already passed a resolution calling for a solution to Ayodhya issue either through court order or an agreement between the two communities.
