Kashmiri Muslims planning 'jihad' squads: Pak cleric
Saturday, August 9 2003 16:02 Hrs (IST)

Lahore: Muslims based in Kashmir and in other parts of India are reportedly organising themselves into 'jihad' squads to realise their objective of self-determination in that Northern state, said a leading Pakistan cleric on August 8.

"The Kashmiri freedom struggle is a source of inspiration for Indian Muslims," the 'Daily Times' quoted Jamaat-ud-Daawa Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed as saying during Friday prayers at the Jamia Qadsia.

"Gujarati Muslims would prepare 'jihadi' squads to fight against the atrocities of the Hindus. US President (George Bush) was also scared of Islam's 'jihadi' spirit, but would be ultimately defeated," Saeed said.
