Islamabad: Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf on August 11 called for a peaceful resolution of all
issues with India, including the Kashmir dispute saying "conflicts are unthinkable in this modern century."
"Pakistan will do its best to follow the track of peace and dialogue to resolve all disputes with India,''
President Pervez Musharraf said at the inauguration of a seminar on South Asia.
"When we say all disputes, it certainly includes the core issue of Kashmir,'' he said.
Musharraf made his remarks in the same hotel where a peace conference was being held between
Pakistani and Indian lawmakers and journalists.
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee kicked off that conference on August 10 with a written statement
calling for an end to bloodshed between the bitter nuclear-armed rivals.
`
"Pakistan also desires peace for the benefit of the people in Pakistan and India,'' Musharraf said.
Musharraf said he hoped the conference would be a success.
"I am extremely happy that the Indian delegates are in Pakistan,'' he said.
Musharraf spoke before representatives of the United States, Russia, China, Japan and India - all
present at the seminar. He said that Pakistan wants peace with its giant neighbour.
"We are against conflicts.... conflicts are unthinkable in this modern century,'' he added.
