ONGC officers association gheraos Ram Naik
Monday, August 11 2003 22:17 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Ram Naik was on August 11 gheroed by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) association of Scientific and Technical Officers at the Juhu helibase, who sought immediate action against chairman and managing director Subir Raha.

The association demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry for lack of safety measures in helicopter operations by private parties and sought immediate resignation of Raha.

They gheroed Naik after he visited the spot, where 25 ONGC personnel, including a deputy general manager (operations) were feared killed when the copter went into the Arabian sea.

Association president M K Mirchandani alleged that malfunctioning of the tail rotor of the Mesco MI-72 helicopter was the cause for the helicopter crashing into the Arabian sea.
