VHP calls for 'change in thinking of Muslims'

New Delhi: Reiterating that Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on August
10 said no solution of the vexed issue is possible until there is a "change in the thinking of the Muslims".
"We do not believe in 'len-den' (exchange). If through negotiations any solution comes out, it is good,
but it should be respectable, then we will build the temple there," VHP international president Ashok
Singhal said on the sidelines of a religious function.
"Today the need of the hour is a cultural resurrection of the Indian society and the temple issue is a
minor one," he said, adding, "Had building of the temple at Ayodhya been the only issue, it would have
been built there by the people of Ayodhya itself."
Asked why the issue is taking a long time, Singhal said time is not the factor, only the will of the masses
is important.
VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore said "nothing can be achieved on the basis of government. The
support of the masses is needed for the construction of the temple at Ayodhya".
Asked about government seeking to resolve the issue, Kishore said, "The solution must be a
respectable one but no conditions should be attached to it."
The strategy for the agitation from September 13 for the temple will be discussed in a high-power
committee and Marg Darshak Mandal, Kishore said, adding however there would be no agitation in the
four states which are going to elections.
