14 Pak MPs to join I-Day celebrations in India

Lahore: Fourteen members of Parliament from Pakistan will arrive in India on August 14 to take part in
Independence Day celebrations.
According to a 'Daily Times' report, Parliamentarians from the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP)
and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will visit India as a goodwill gesture to mark Independence
Day.
"The visit is part of the peace moves initiated both at the government and people level to promote
harmony and friendly relations between Pakistan and India," the paper quoted Human Rights
Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) director IA Rehman as saying at the Lahore Press Club.
The visit is being undertaken under the aegis of the People for Peace (PFP), a forum of peace activists,
political workers and civil society groups.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Muhammad Pervez Malik, Fauzia
Wahab, Yasmin Rahman, Aamir Liaquat Hussain, Iqbal Haider, Latif Khosa, Ramesh Lal, Krishan Heer,
Rauf Mengal, Babri Ghauri and Nabeel Gabol will visit India on August 14 and stay overnight at Amritsar,
Rehman said. He said Indian Parliamentarians would pay a reciprocal visit to Pakistan in 2004.
He said the Parliamentarians visiting India have passports with special South Asian Association for
Regional Cooperation (SAARC) stickers, which allow them to visit any of the seven SAARC countries.
