New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on August 14 stayed trial court proceedings against senior Congress
leader and former External Affairs Minister Madhavsinh Solanki in the Bofors case.
The trial court had asked him to file a reply to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) plea seeking
initiation of criminal proceedings against him for allegedly attempting to "scuttle" the probe into the Rs
64 crore pay-off case.
Justice J D Kapoor, who stayed trial court proceedings against Solanki, also issued notice to the CBI on
his petition seeking quashing of trial court proceedings.
The court asked the CBI to file reply to Solanki's petition by September 23, the next date of
hearing.
Special Judge Prem Kumar had on July 29 directed Solanki to file his reply to CBI's allegation that he
had attempted to mislead the Swiss authorities who were executing a Letter Rogatory seeking
assistance in the Bofors probe.
