New Delhi: Over 10 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members have submitted to the Lok Sabha Speaker
breach of faith and privilege notices against Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Buta Singh
even as its Parliamentary Party Whip Kirit Somaiya sought his resignation for allegedly misleading the
Committee and submitting an "incomplete" report.
"More than 10 PAC members have submitted their objection, observation, breach of faith notices and
breach of privileges notices against the PAC chairman. The chairman has misled the Committee by
suppressing vital information and documents," Somaiya said in a letter to Speaker Manohar Joshi, copy
of which was circulated to the media.
"Not only the report is ultra vire and illegal but also submitted before correction with political motive," he
said.
In another letter to the PAC chairman, Somaiya asked him to tender his resignation as he among other
things allegedly misled the Committee by "suppressing vital information received from the Chief
Vigilance Commissioner".
"The PAC report on purchases for Kargil war was rushed, hushed, pushed and signed on August 4 and
submitted before completion and correction on August 5/6 for political reasons" before three other
reports which should have preceded it, he said.
"You (Buta Singh) have not only misled the Committee but tried to use it for political purpose. It has
never happened in the past since 1930s. It is a breach of faith," he said.
Somaiya also requested the Speaker to take necessary action "if the chairman does not accept the
request".
