Fiat India to pay import duty on Sachin's car
Thursday, August 14 2003 21:51 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Fiat India on August 14 said it will pay the import duty on the Ferrari car which was presented to Sachin Tendulkar.

"The Ferrari was presented to Tendulkar for equalising Sir Donald Bradman's record for scoring 29 centuries and Fiat believes that this gesture on its part, of paying import duty, is in keeping with the spirit in which the gift was given," the company said in a release.

"Tendulkar has given consent to this arrangement," Fiat spokesperson said.

The association of Sachin Tendulkar as Fiat's brand ambassador was a new approach adopted by the car company while launching Palio in September 2001.
