Militants torch official's vehicle in Manipur

Imphal: Militants, who called for boycott of Independence Day, on August 15 forced the Additional
Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Manipur's Senapati district to get off his vehicle before torching it at
Koubru Leikha area, official sources said.
About four armed militants stopped the ADC Y Iboyaima Singh, who was returning to Imphal unescorted
after attending the celebrations at the district headquarters, and set the
vehicle ablaze after forcing him to get down at Koubru Leikha in Senapati district, the sources said.
The ultras escaped to nearby hill jungles after the incident, the sources said.
It was not known to which outfit the ultras belonged.
Militants on August 14 blew up a bus with remote controlled device killing six passengers and injuring 15
others at Lilong bridge in Imphal West District. Powerful blasts were also reported from Churachandpur
and Bishenpur districts in the state on August 14.
