New Delhi: Expressing confidence that the no-trust motion against the National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) government would be defeated, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah Naidu on
August 15 said the Congress would regret having moved it.
"It is very much clear that the Opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion would meet a tragic end," he
said ahead of the evening meeting of senior BJP functionaries called in the wake of the Opposition's no-
trust notice, which would be taken up on August 18.
Congress will regret its decision, he told reporters on the sidelines of an Independence Day function at
the party headquarters.
However, he said moving a no-confidence motion was the right of the Opposition in a Parliamentary
Democracy and "we welcome it".
He said the uproar in Parliament on the Public Accounts Committee not getting a Central Vigilance
Commission (CVC) report was "unnecessary" and accused Congress and other Opposition parties of
sidelining the issues concerning the common man by stalling Parliament proceedings for last 12
days.
"Congress and Communist leaders are only weakening Democracy of the country and moving such
motions in Parliament will do no good to the country," the BJP president said.
