You can book your PM under Lok Pal, says Vajpayee

New Delhi: You can even book your Prime Minister if he commits any wrong, Atal Behari Vajpayee on
August 15 told the nation as he spoke about government's move on Lok Pal Bill and determination to
fight corruption at all levels.
In his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort, he said after his
experience, had had "come to the conclusion that there is an imperative need for greater commitment
and accountability in our system of governance, which has the responsibility of implementing policies
and decisions".
"There is delay in government offices even for getting right work done. Delays breed corruption,"
Vajpayee said, asserting his government was prepared to fight corruption at all levels.
"We have decided to enact the Lok Pal Bill, which had been pending for several decades," he
said.
"In spite of opposition from some people, I have personally brought the Prime Minister within the ambit of
its investigation, so that you can even book your Prime Minister if he commits any wrong," Vajpayee
said.
He said stringent steps are being taken against economic offenders.
