Saturday, August 16 2003 14:21 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The prolonged power blackout in North Eastern parts of US has delayed the departure and arrival of Air-India flights by nearly 24 hours between India and US, via Europe.

A spokesman of Air-India said as per the revised timings, the flight (AI 112) from New York via London- Delhi, originally scheduled to depart on August 14, is now expected to arrive in Mumbai early August 17 while the flight (AI 144) from Newark via Paris is due to arrive at Mumbai at 00:25 hours (IST) on August 17.

Consequently, the departure of the Mumbai-London-New York flight (AI 101), originally due to leave here early today (August 16), would operate on August 17 morning while the Paris-Newark flight (AI 145) would now depart at 02:30 hours (IST) on August 17, he said.

In view of the delayed departure of scheduled flights out of Mumbai, the corresponding return flights from Newark and New York would also be delayed, he said.

The spokesman further clarified that scheduled flights to New York, Newark and Chicago for August 17 would depart from Mumbai as per the normal schedule.
