NCP to vote in favour of no-confidence motion
Saturday, August 16 2003 13:24 Hrs (IST)

Indore: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will vote in favour of the no-confidence motion brought by Congress president and Leader of Opposition Sonia Gandhi, on the issue of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Defence deals, NCP president Sharad Pawar said on August 16.

The NCP will support the motion as it feels that the Opposition should have a unity on the issues of national importance and therefore it has decided to vote in its favour, Pawar told reporters.

The NCP president is in Indore to address the party's state unit conference being organised in the Basketball Complex.

It can be recalled that Sonia has given a notice for tabling the no-confidence motion against the government on the issue of CVC report to PAC seeking a probe into the Defence purchases during the Kargil conflict, on which debate and division of votes will take place on August 18-19.
