TDP will vote against no-trust motion: Naidu
Saturday, August 16 2003 16:58 Hrs (IST)

Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of National Democratic Alliance (NDA), on August 16 said it would work for the defeat of the no-trust motion in Lok Sabha, dubbing the Opposition move as "politically motivated and a waste of time".

"We will expose the Congress and oppose the motion," TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters.

Naidu, whose TDP is providing crucial outside support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central coalition, dismissed as "non-issue" the furore over Centre's refusal to part with a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) seeking to probe Defence purchases during Kargil conflict.

"The PAC is headed by a Congress leader. They (Congress) want to create a ruckus by politicising the issue and stall the proceedings of the House. There is a political motive," he said.

Asked whether his party would attend the meeting of NDA MPs being convened on August 18, the TDP chief said, "We never participated in NDA meetings in the past. We are supporting from outside. However, we are in touch with them (NDA leadership)."
