VHP petitions Governor against banning programme
Saturday, August 16 2003 23:04 Hrs (IST)
Patna: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on August 16 petitioned the Governor M Rama Jois against
banning of programmes of its international general secretary Praveen Togadia and vice president
Acharya Giriraj Kishore by the administration in Bihar and described it as ''unconstitutional, anti-nation
and anti-hindu.''
A delegation of VHP state unit headed by its organising, secretary Radha Mohan Singh called on the
Governor on August 16 evening and submitted a memorandum to him to formally lodge protest against
banning of Togadia's and Kishore's visit to the state.
Singh claimed that the Governor assured them of looking into the matter.
Terming as ''anti nation and unconstitutional'' the action of the administration preventing the VHP
leaders from participating in parishad's programmes, Singh urged the Governor to order an
independent inquiry into the circumstances that forced the administration to ban their visit.
Day after Togadia was packed off to Delhi without attending functions organised by VHP on the
occasion of Independence Day in Patna, Kishore was on August 16 externed on his arrival from New
Delhi without participating the parishad's programme in Muzaffarpur.
