Air Deccan to launch first low-cost flight on Aug 25

Bangalore: Air Deccan, India's first ever low-cost "no frills" airline, will launch its inaugural flight from the
HAL airport in Bangalore on Aug 25, a top official of Deccan Aviation Private Limited (DAPL), promoters
of the airline said.
Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna and Union Minister of state for Civil Aviation Rajiv Pratap Singh
Rudy will flag the first two commercial flights. The first flight will cover Bangalore-Hubli-Mumbai sector
while the second will be for Bangalore-Belgaum-Mumbai, Capt G R
Gopinath, managing director DAPL said.
The regular commercial flights will commence from Aug 26 at 06.00 hours (IST) and connect places like
Coimbatore, Madurai, Rajamundry, Mangalore and Tirupathi with all the major metros.
Air Deccan has already taken delivery of two 48-seater aircrafts from ATR, France, for the purpose
while lease agreements for a total of six aircrafts has already been signed, he said.
While the other two aircrafts will arrive in September the remaining two will come in the last week of
October, Gopinath said.
By November this year, Air Deccan will have about 70 flights a day, linking all the regional airports with
the metros with return flights on the same day.
Additional airports like Vijayawada. Calicut, Puttaparthi, Salem and Tuticorin will also be brought into the
aviation fold, he said.
