Anna Hazare ends fast following assurances from CM
Sunday, August 17 2003 19:59 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The anti-corruption crusader and social activist Anna Hazare called off his nine-day old fast- unto-death after receiving a letter from Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's office accepting all his demands.

Saint Tukaram offered a glass of lime juice to the social activist to end his protest.

Hazare whose condition was reported to be critical had withdrawn his demand for resignation of four Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ministers whom he alleged to be involved in ''irregularities''.
