BSNL to launch mobile services in J&K from Aug 18

Jammu: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on August 17 announced the launch of mobile services in Jammu and Kashmir from August 18, two days after Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee promised the commencement of mobile telephony in the state in his Independence Day speech.

"The booking of mobile telephoning will start in Jammu and Srinagar from August 18 to 25 as per the promise made by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech," Chief General Manager, BSNL, Arun Kumar told reporters.

The registration of mobile telephony will start from August 19, a day after start of booking in the state, he said.
