Tuesday, August 19 2003 20:42 Hrs (IST)
Mysore: Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on August 19 said that the princely city of Mysore would
be converted into "Heritage city" to preserve its rich culture and heritage.
Announcing this at the inaugural of the second phase of the TVS manufacturing unit in Nanjangud in
Mysore, Krishna said he would instruct government officials to prepare a blue print in this regard.
"There are not many heritage cities in the country, except for some like Jodhpur and Udaipur. We want to
develop and protect this (Mysore) as an heritage city," Krishna told industrialists and entrepreneurs at
the event.
The Chief Minister said the announcement was made following a suggestion made by Sundaram
Fasteners chairman Suresh Krishna earlier in the day.
Krishna said the aim would be to devise a plan to protect the heritage of the city and planned
construction or modification of structures.
