Tuesday, August 19 2003 19:41 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: After the emotional response to the Noor Fatima case across the Indo-Pak divide,
government on August 19 announced that two more Pakistani children -- 90-day old Talha and nine-
month old Abdullah-- have been treated successfully at a hospital in Bangalore.
"They are expected to be discharged soon", External Affairs Ministry spokesman told reporters. The
government has funded their medical treatment, he said.
Baby Talha, who travelled with her father Naveed-ul-Haq, a student, mother Nida Baloch and two other
relatives, is suffering from a heart ailment while Baby Abdullah is ailing from another heart problem.
Three-month old Abdullah came with his father, Saeed, working in a motor workshop in Gujranwala on a
monthly income of Rs 4,000. The two were treated at the Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital.
India had announced on July 24 its decision to facilitate the visa requirement of Pakistani children
coming to India for medical treatment. Government had also decided to fully fund the travel, stay and
medical treatment of 20 Pakistani children.
The spokesman said since then, several Pakistani children had come to India for treatment.
Good wishes, gifts and money had come in a big way for two-and-a-half year old Noor when she
travelled with her parents on the first trip in July on the resumed Lahore-Delhi bus service and was
successfully treated for a serious heart ailment at Narayana Hridayalaya.
