New Delhi: Tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 59th birth anniversary on August 20.

The late leader's wife and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad were among the prominent leaders who paid floral tributes at his memorial Veerbhoomi.

An all-religion prayer meeting was held on the occasion.

Gandhi, who was the nation's youngest Prime Minister, was killed in a suicide bomb attack in 1989.
