Close Saddam aide 'Chemical Ali' captured

Washington: The former high-ranking Iraqi official known as Chemical Ali is in the custody of US forces,
a senior Defence official said on August 21.
Ali Hassan al-Majid, a cousin of Saddam Hussein, once ran Iraq's armed forces. Opponents gave him his
nickname for his role in 1988 chemical weapons attacks that killed thousands of Kurds in Northern Iraq.
