Lok Sabha in an uproar over cow slaughter ban Bill
Thursday, August 21 2003 13:10 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was on August 21 plunged into turmoil on the issue of introduction of a Bill seeking a ban on cow slaughter, with several Opposition parties vehemently protesting against the government move, forcing adjournment of the House for 10 minutes.

Trouble started as soon as Speaker Manohar Joshi asked Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh to move the Bill on Prevention of Cruelty to Cows shortly after the Question Hour.

Anil Basu (Communist Party of India-Marxist) and some other members of Left parties were seen tearing papers, which they claimed were copies of the Bill.
