AP CM to talk to Jaya on water dispute with K'taka
Thursday, August 21 2003 10:19 Hrs (IST)

Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on August 20 said he would soon talk to his Tamil Nadu counterpart Jayalalithaa on putting up a joint fight over inter-state river water sharing disputes with Karnataka.

So far Jayalalithaa had not responded to his proposal in this regard made at a media interaction during his recent visit to Chennai, Naidu told reporters onboard a train from Chittoor to Tirupati.

Naidu was here in connection with some railway functions in his native Chittoor district.

While coming down on Karnataka for "unauthorised" construction of dams, Naidu had said both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, which had water disputes with Karnataka, should jointly fight for their "rightful" share of water.
