BSF jawan killed, 3 hurt in Pak shelling along LoC

Jammu: Pakistani troops on August 21 pounded forward defence locations and civilian areas along the
Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, killing a Border Security
Force (BSF) jawan and injuring three others, official sources said.
Pakistani troops targeted the locations and areas with civilian population using 60, 80 and 81-mm mortar
shells along the LoC in Noushera, Balakote, Achard, Jhangar, Kalsian, Kalal, Jhallas, Balnoie,
Krishnaghati and Mendhar areas since 1.20 am (IST), the sources said.
In the heavy shelling, BSF jawan Narinder Singh was killed and another jawan Ramesh Kumar was
injured critically at Achard border area in Poonch sector, the sources added.
Two other jawans were wounded at the forward defence location in Rajouri sector. The sources said
indian troops also fired in retaliatory action.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani rangers fired on border outposts along the International Border in R S Pura
and Samba areas to scuttle border fencing work undertaken by the BSF. However, no one was injured in
the firing and work was going on without any disruption, the sources said.
