BSE: Market remains upbeat during morning trading

Mumbai: The market remained in upbeat mood with the SENSEX moving towards 4,100-level during
morning trading after a firm start as stocks continued their upward march on the Bombay Stock
Exchange (BSE) on August 21 on fresh buying by speculators and institutional investors.
The BSE sensitive index opened remarkably up at 4,075.17 as against August 29 close of 4,056.60 and
later advanced to a high at 4,088.85 before being quoted at 4,077.55 at 10.30 am (IST).
Technology stocks remained in the forefront on fresh buying by speculators as well as foreign funds.
HPCL was quoted sharply higher on reports that prospective bidders of the company would commence
due-diligence next week.
Other index-based counters like Tisco, RIL, SBI, ICICI Bank, HCL Techno, Satyam Computers, Infosys
Tech, Dr Reddy's Lab, Hero Honda, Hindalco, ITC, MTNL, Ranbaxy Lab and Zee Tele showed marked
gains at early stages.
However, HLL, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Grasim Ind and a few others showed substantial falls.
Among the top gainers, HOEC were quoted up by 8.31 per cent, Zensar by 8.11 per cent, Hinduja TMT
by 8.00 per cent, Silverline by 7.80 per cent, Oriental Bank by 6.62 per cent, Pentamedia by 6.21 per
cent, Mascot System by 5.82 per cent and ICICI bank by 5.50 per cent.
