Suspected UPDS militants gun down five of a family

Diphu (Assam): Five members of a Bihari family including four women were shot dead by suspected United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) militants in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, police said on August 22.

The UPDS ultras went to the house of the Irrigation department guard at Manja village on August 21 night under Diphu police station and gunned five persons including the wife and three daughters, police said.

The militants armed with AK-47 rifles escaped under cover of darkness after committing the crime.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot and investigations are on.
