BJP chargesheet a bid to mislead people: Digvijay
Saturday, August 23 2003 19:56 Hrs (IST)

Bhopal: Rejecting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chargesheet against his government as a "disinformation" campaign by a "sinking" party, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said on August 23 it is full of lies to mislead people in a desperate bid for electoral gains in the coming Assembly polls.

"It is a false propaganda in BJP's routine style. It is full of wrong data and information by a party desperately groping for power," Singh told reporters a day after BJP termed his government as "corrupt, inefficient and anti-farmer".

The Chief Minister said 60 of the 101 charges made by BJP have already been discussed at length in the state Assembly, while 30 charges were related to 1993-98 period after which people had given their verdict in favour of Congress.

Asking BJP to correct its records before levelling "baseless and wild" charges, Singh said the Centre had provided Rs 240 crore for the welfare of Scheduled Castes in the state during the past 10 years, out of which Rs 221 crore had already been spent.
