Mayawati promises 'lots of spicy news' at BSP meet
Sunday, August 24 2003 18:35 Hrs (IST)

Lucknow: Adding to political speculation triggered by the August 23 meeting between top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on August 24 said media would get lots of "spicy news" at her party's convention on August 25.

"Come to the venue of the convention in full gear and telecast it live. You will get lots of spicy news there," she quipped in an informal chat with newsmen after dedicating the Ambedkar Memorial Centre and Museum to the people when asked as to what announcements she would be making at the convention.

Her comments assume significance in the wake of political speculation in the wake of her decision to summon the Cabinet barely an hour before the start of the convention on August 25.

The Chief Minister also asked the media not to draw any political meaning from the Cabinet meeting saying such meetings were routine and they could be advanced or deferred depending upon the availability of time.
