Vajpayee's rescheduled J&K visit includes Jammu
Sunday, August 24 2003 15:01 Hrs (IST)

Jammu: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who was to visit Srinagar for two days starting August 27, has rescheduled his visit for three days to include Jammu as well, official sources said.

Vajpayee, who is to preside over a meeting of inter state council in Srinagar on August 27, will now also visit the winter capital of Jammu on August 28 and leave for Delhi on August 29, they said.

The Prime Minister would be meeting several delegations on his arrival in Jammu, they said, adding he will also attend a civic reception organised by Pradesh Janata Party at Abhinav theatre on August 29 before leaving for Delhi.

President of the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nirmal Singh said Vajpayee would be meeting the party leaders during his overnight stay.

The leaders of the state unit, during a recent visit to New Delhi, had impressed upon the Prime Minister to visit Jammu as well, he said, adding that is why the Prime Minister has rescheduled his visit.

The sources said Vajpayee is likely to launch a job package during his stay in Srinagar.

During his last visit to Kashmir valley in April, Vajpayee had announced one lakh jobs for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in two years, among other things.
