4 coaches of Sealdah-Dankuni local train derails
Monday, August 25 2003 10:04 Hrs (IST)

Kolkata: Four coaches of Sealdah-Dankuni local jumped rails near Bali halt station of the Eastern Railway's Sealdah-Dankuni section on August 24 night, Railway sources said.

The derailment was caused mainly due to subsidence of soil under the track due to incessant rains, the sources said.

Eyewitnesses said about 25 people sustained minor injuries as they tried to come out of the compartments of the Dankuni-bound local train during the mishap.

Train services on the section were suspended after the mishap.

The Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express had passed through that line shortly before the derailment.
