Lucknow: Expressing happiness over Archaeological Survey of India's (ASI) excavation report pertaining to the disputed site in Ayodhya, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on August 25 urged the Muslims to "immediately withdraw" their petitions pending in the high court in this regard.

In a statement issued in Lucknow, the VHP media in-charge Sharad Sharma claimed that the ASI report was completely in favour of the Ram temple.

Sharma said the twin blasts in Mumbai "barely 40 minutes after opening of the ASI report indicated that they were the handiwork of anti-Ram temple elements, which was also indicative of their frustration".

Stating that the Hindu society would not be "cowed down" by such elements, he urged the saints in Ayodhya not to allow any suspicious person to stay in their shrines.

Referring to the reported statement of former Member of Parliament (MP) Mohammad Shahabuddin that he would break the disputed structure if it became apparent that there existed a structure beneath the disputed site, Sharma said now Shahabuddin and other Muslim organisations fighting the cases should withdraw their claim not only from the Ram temple, but also from Kashi and Mathura temples.

He said the Ram temple agitation movement would gain more strength from the report of ASI.
