'SIMI's involvement to be known only after probe'
Tuesday, August 26 2003 10:10 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: Terming as "extremely alarming" the Mumbai blast leaving at least 45 people killed and a
large number wounded, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on August 26 said that one would be able to
tell whether the banned Islamic outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was involved only after
the investigations were complete.
Since November-December 2002 Mumbai has been witnessing a number of such bomb blasts. The
earlier ones were mostly in buses and in almost all cases the organisation involved was SIMI acting
mostly in conjunction with Lashkar-e-Toiba, he told reporters.
Whether the August 25 blasts were also the handiwork of such organisation would be known after the
investigations going on were completed and then one would be definitely able to tell their involvement,
he added.
