Hindu mob attacked hotel, says Godhra witness
Tuesday, August 26 2003 16:03 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: A riot witness on August 26 alleged police "inefficiency" due to which a Hindu mob had managed to attack and set ablaze a hotel at Shahibaug on February 28, during the post Godhra communal violence.

Deposing before the two-man riot inquiry probe panel headed by Justice (retd) G P Nanavati and Justice (retd) K G Shah, a social worker Pradyuman Bhatt said, had the police arrived on time, mobs would not have managed to set ablaze the Moti Manor hotel where at least 14 of its staff members were trapped.

However, apart from loss of property, no one was killed in the incident.
