Nasik: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal on August 26 threatened to launch a mass movement if the government, even after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) "findings" about the temple-like structure beneath the disputed site at Ayodhya, fails to issue a notification for construction of Ram temple there.

He told reporters that an important meeting of VHP, mahants and sadhus will be held in New Delhi on September 15 and 16 to discuss future course of action and claimed that even the sadhus and mahants were in favour of temple at Ayodhya after the ASI report.

He said now no 'Dharma Sansad' will be held, but "we will come on roads if the government does not make any amendment or act to build the temple".

VHP would go to two lakh villages to make people aware of the issue, Singhal said, adding the Parishad will oppose political parties if they oppose construction of temple at Ayodhya.

Singhal strongly flayed Centre's move to take over lands of Hindu mutts and temples and asked it and even state governments to make an act to protect properties of Hindu mutts and temples.
