Blast in Srinagar ahead of Vajpayee's arrival

Srinagar: Hours before the arrival of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on August 27, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off in the city but there were no casualties.

The IED, planted by militants, near the boundary wall of an abandoned house in Karan Nagar went off at 1010 hrs (IST) shattering windowpanes of nearby houses, official sources said.

They said no one was injured in the blast.
