Lucknow: Thirteen Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) belonging to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on August 27 pledged support to an alternative government headed by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh.

The legislators, including two former ministers Jaiveer Singh and Yogesh Pratap Singh, submitted a letter of support to Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri pledging their support to Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The BSP MLAs went to Raj Bhawan along with state SP general secretary Shiv Pal Singh Yadav and handed over the letter of support to the Governor.

The BSP MLAs who offered support to Yadav are: Rajendra Singh Rana, Surendra Vikram Singh, Jaiveer Singh, Rajendra Singh Chauhan, Shailendra Yadav, Jai Prakash Yadav, Brajendra Pratap Singh and Yogesh Pratap Singh, Rajpal Tyagi, Virendra Singh, Kutbuddin, Nawab Qazim Ali Khan and Dinesh Singh.

SP sources claimed more BSP MLAs were going to back Mulayam Singh Yadav's bid to form government in order to complete the one-third number to formalise a split in the 111-strong BSP legislature group.
