Benazir asks Musharraf to reveal secret Osama pact
Thursday, August 28 2003 16:16 Hrs (IST)
Islamabad: President General Pervez Musharraf should unveil his "secret deals" regarding al-Qaida
chief Osama Bin Laden, says former Prime Minister and chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP),
Benazir Bhutto.
Bhutto drew attention to a statement in 'The Guardian', which claimed that Osama bin Laden was hiding
in tribal areas of Pakistan and that General Musharraf made this deal in order to avert any uproar
against his regime. She also referred to another news item, which claimed that three thousand
combatants were rescued from Kandooz, through aircrafts by General Musharraf government, says a
report in 'Online News'.
According to 'The Guardian', pointed out Bhutto, the information of Osama's disappearance in Pakistan
was received when Sheikh Khalid was arrested from an Army officer house in Rawalpindi. Moreover, the
paper has disclosed it for the first time that Osama was deliberately set free during Torabora action in
Afghanistan.
"If all these news items are true, than it clearly means that Osama bin Laden's arrest from Pakistan can
lead to bloodshed in Pakistan," warned the PPP chairperson.
'The Guardian' had further emphasised upon the need of the Karzai government in Afghanistan, to take
full advantage of Pakistan's internal constitutional crisis and make full efforts to arrest Osama bin Laden.
Also, Benazir pointed out that the report carried hints that post Mumbai bomb blast, the situation
between Pakistan and India could worsen.
