Beijing: Echoing India's concerns on cross-border terrorism, China on August 28 acknowledged that the
emergence of "cross-border and cross-regional terrorism" posed a threat to nations' security, stability
and world peace.
"Terrorism is an issue that has aroused serious concern in the international community. Since we
entered the new century, cross-border and cross-regional terrorism has become increasingly serious,
posing a threat to nations' security, stability and world peace," spokesman of the international
department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Yu Hongjun said.
Yu noted that India has frequently been a "victim" of terrorist attacks and that China was saddened by
the fact that the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai inflicted a number of human casualties and property
damages.
"Chinese people are deeply sympathetic with the Indian people," Yu said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has also condemned the Mumbai terrorist attacks.
"We are shocked at the event and condemn the explosions. We wish to express our sympathy to the
injured and the families of the victims," the ministry said in a statement.
