Daman: Curfew was on August 29 clamped in the port city of Daman after angry residents attacked a
police station and resorted to heavy stone pelting, even as one person was seriously wounded in police
firing.
Some persons, including few policemen, have been injured in the violent incidents with the authorities
clamping section 144, police said.
The situation was tense but under control, police added.
One person, injured in police firing was admitted to Haria Hospital, hospital sources said.
The irate mob resorted to stone pelting and torched a vehicle and attacked police stations to protest
against the administration's apathy in relief work and condemn the authorities for the collapse of the
bridge on Damanganga River that claimed 26 lives, mostly school children on August 28.
Police lobbed tear gas shells and resorted to lathicharge to quell the rampaging mob.
