Naxals attack Cola godown in Kerala, destroy bottles
Friday, August 29 2003 15:07 Hrs (IST)

Kochi: Activists of the Ayangalli Pada, a naxal organisation, attacked a Cola godown at Kadavanthara in the heart of Kochi on August 28 morning and destroyed at least 400 Coca Cola and other soft drink bottles by breaking and pouring kerosene and diesel on them before setting them afire.

The activists, carrying kerosene and diesel cans, came in a procession and attacked the godown on the Ponneath road after raising slogans against the multinational company, police said.

Before pulling down plastic crates of Cola and other soft drinks, the activists threatened 10 employees, with weapons, asking them to leave the premises.

Police and fire force rushed to the spot.

A case has been registered.
