LTTE to soon make counter-peace proposal to SL govt

Colombo: Tamil tiger rebels are likely to make counter-proposals to the Sri Lanka government within a
month to revive the peace talks and will leave for Switzerland shortly for talks with government
authorities, the rebels said On August 31.
At the Switzerland meeting, the rebel tigers are likely to finalise the proposals that were drafted at a four-
day, closed-door meeting of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Constitutional and legal experts in
Paris last week.
"The draft proposal will then be handed over to the Norwegian government will submit the LTTE's
response to the government of Sri Lanka," the pro-tigers Website 'tamilnet.com' reported.
"This process is expected to take approximately four weeks according to informed sources," it said.
LTTE's political wing leader S P Thamilselvan, eastern military commander Karuna and the head of their
peace secretariat Pulithevan will travel to Switzerland on September 3, according to the pro-tigers
Website.
The Website said that the tigers had completed substantial work on their counter-proposals to resume
Norwegian-brokered peace negotiations aimed at ending a three-decades-long war on the Island.
Among the LTTE's international advisors who attended the discussions in Paris were Prof Sornarajah
(Singapore), Prof Ramasamy (Malaysia), Prof Manuelpillai Paul Dominic (Australia), Shiva Pasupathi
(Australia) and Visvendran (UK), the Website added.
