Srinagar: Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a suicide attack on its camp at Nishad near Srinagar in
Jammu and Kashmir by killing a militant in the wee hours on September 2, a BSF spokesman said.
The spokesman said troops noticed movement of militants, who were trying to enter the camp by cutting
the barbed wire at Ishberg Nishat, near the camp of 57 battalion at 3.00 am (IST) in the morning.
The BSF jawans challenged the militants and killed one of them. The troops launched a search in the
area for other militants who escaped, the spokesman said.
The identity of the slain militant was not immediately known, but Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad
(JeM) was believed to be behind the attack, the spokesman said.
The JeM had threatened to launch attacks on the security forces to avenge the killing of their chief
commander (operations) Gazi Baba in an encounter at Noorbagh-Qammerwari on August 30.
