5 top Pak militants, cop killed in J&K encounter

Jammu: Five top Pakistani militants and a police constable were killed and five security men injured,
three of them seriously, in an encounter in Hill Kaka area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir early
on September 2, official sources said.
On a tip off regarding the presence of militants, a joint team of police and Army cordoned off Pandalla
Nalla (Fazalabad top) in Hill Kaka bowl, the sources said.
Militants fired at the joint operation party, which retaliated killing five Pakistani militants at around 2.00
am (IST), the sources said.
In the encounter, five security men, including two Army personnel, were injured and three of them
critically, the sources said, adding they are being evacuated to government hospital in Jammu by a
helicopter.
Constable Shakeel Ahmed, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in
Surankote, the sources said.
The encounter was still on and at least three militants are in the cordon. The operation is being
supervised by SSP Poonch, Mukesh Singh, the sources said.
Five AK rifles, 17 grenades, 192 rounds of ammunition, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), seven
detonators, nine magazines and large quantity of explosives besides documents were recovered from
the slain militants, they added.
