Kalyan not to depose 'under any circumstances'
Tuesday, September 2 2003 15:02 Hrs (IST)
Lucknow: A defiant Rashtriya Kranti Party chief Kalyan Singh on September 2 said he would not depose
before the Liberhan Commission probing the Ayodhya demolition case "under any circumstances".
Singh, against whom the commission on September 2 issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) for failing to
appear before it, made the comment when asked for his reaction on the commission's directive. "The
commission cannot force me to depose," he said.
The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said he would depose before the commission only when it
questions Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.
He, however, said he was yet to receive any communication from the commission regarding issuance of
NBW.
On being asked about the stand of the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led government in which his four-member
Rashtriya Kranti Party is an alliance partner on the issuance of a fresh notification in the Ayodhya case
paving way for the trial of Advani and seven others, Singh said a decision in this regard will be taken
later.
