2 NRI hoteliers killed over car parking row in UK
Tuesday, September 2 2003 19:18 Hrs (IST)

London: Two Non-Resident Indian (NRI) hoteliers were shot dead by three Asian men in London following a row over a parking space at their family run hotel, police said on September 2.

Amarjit Singh, 50, and his 35-year-old nephew Raginder Singh were killed in broad daylight outside their Forest View Hotel in East London on August 29.

A spokeswoman of the Scotland Yard said that the hoteliers had asked two groups of Asian men to move cars from a private parking space at the back of their hotel.

One of the groups left but three men returned and began vandalising a van belonging to the Singhs. When the Singhs went out to investigate, they were shot and killed on the spot. The group ran off.

Police have found no link between the killings and the hoteliers' business interests.

The victims, who were both married with two children, lived in the same family house in Chigwell, Essex.
